“After Julieta” by Sudaporn Teja
October 10 – November 10, 2024
BACC pop⋅up People’s Gallery P1, 3rd Floor, MAD, MunMun at Seacon Square Srinakarin

“After Julieta” serves as an epilogue to the 2023 exhibition “Julieta” by Sudaporn Teja at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, which recounted the journey to uncover the meaning and origin of a bouquet of Julieta roses given to the artist by a friend before he passed away.

Revisiting the original journal, the artist distills the concluded events down to their essence, exploring the transformation of momentum between objects in an imagined space through monochromatic abstract paintings. She reconstructs fragmented memories into new forms of art installations and video works, reflecting the interplay between objects, empty spaces, and the arrow of time.

“After Julieta” features a collection of works created during the artist’s journey from 2018 to 2024, spanning various media including paintings, videos, photographs, and installations. The exhibition poses open-ended questions about life’s connections, dedicated to the friend who gifted the Julieta roses, in fulfillment of a promise.
