Description
River City Bangkok, in collaboration with Pagoda the Art Club, proudly presents “Live Love Lives”.
This exhibition is designed to share the stories of past generations with the new, shedding light on the origins of various artifacts. Whether it’s the love and bonds of the past or the rich history preserved through time, this event aims to pass on the love and legacy from one generation to the next.
“When I was a child, my family rented a small two-story wooden house in the Bang Rak district. My father was a Chinese immigrant who arrived on a junk boat and married my mother, a second generation Chinese born in Thailand. The most familiar sight to me was the ‘teak reclining chair’ that was used for both sitting and sleeping. We had two very old-fashioned teak beds and a set of teak tables and chairs that probably came from a prison work project in the old days. There were tube radios, small record players, and eventually a stereo system that could play cassette tapes and CDs. These items are childhood memories that I have tried to preserve, never willing to throw them away. Even though these things may seem outdated, I have always loved and cherished them.
Time flies so quickly, and I feel like I’m nearing the end of my journey. Will anyone be interested in carrying on with the things I love and have tried to preserve? This thought makes me want to create a room, perhaps a living room, where I can blend my old treasures with modern items and tell their stories to my grandchildren. Maybe then, they will understand and want to keep these memories alive.” – Charnchai Siriwittayacharoen, Curator of Pagoda the Art Club
