The 2nd Pattaya Film Festival returns from Aug 21-25, featuring over 20 films, outdoor screenings, masterclasses, and a documentary pitching session—all with free admission at two cinemas in the city.

International filmmakers, including Joao Pedro Rodrigues from Portugal and Amanda Nell Eu from Malaysia, will be in attendance. Screenings will be held at SF Cinema Marina and Major Cineplex Avenue, with talk programmes at Mahatai Convention Center and outdoor films at Lan Pho Park in Na Klua.

The festival’s highlight is a competition featuring six films, including Sea Sparkle (Denmark) and The Monk And The Gun (Bhutan). The Panorama section will showcase contemporary Thai and international titles like The Taste Of Things (France) and Ryuichi Sakamoto: Opus (Japan), along with two classic Thai films. The jury, comprised of renowned filmmakers, will also present their own works and host a masterclass at Burapha University.

The documentary pitching session will feature 10 Thai doc-makers vying for prizes of 200,000 and 100,000 baht, guided by international mentors.
