It probably mentions that we are in a period of the digital world, through Twitter, Instagram, Tiktok, etc. Human lives and experiences are shattered and fall apart endlessly. That broken times become to the point of timeless. The stories are also falling apart such as some short parts from the movies or series on Tiktok are represented randomly, without continuous, and separate themselves from the context. Thus, the identities of humans, who are always tied to times and stories, cannot escape from the state of broken times in the digital world.
Nowadays, lives have been more comfortable since industrialization changed the world to the modern era. On the other hand, it forces humans to live like machines. Lives are dominated by action and cut off the lives from contemplation. Even when it’s time to relax, it has become a part of working because humans are relaxing to go back to work more efficiently.
Currently, People don’t truly have spare time, work is part of life, directly and indirectly, every time. Byung-Chul Han said, The way we don’t have some spare time for work, it’s a sign of Lingering. The spare time from work, it’s not idle but it allows us to form ourselves from the broken world nowadays. Byung-Chul Han proposed that The way humans can form themselves might go back to revive the cogitation and the aesthetic of art. The Lingering contrasts the acceleration of consumption under neoliberalism, which is supported by technology-digital. Art is the one thing that can stop the mental broken from time in the digital world. Art is the way that humans use to pull the experiences of time back in their lives for forming themselves among the ruins of times and stories in the digital world, which is hustle and bustle in the endless digital world.
The film “Mandala Rivulet of Universe” directed by Possathorn, similar to a tool which he contemplates to the authentic truth, and questioning during his screenwriting time. The recording in timing of the cogitation through the photographs of the water surface around Phimai which reflect the truth and the edited tool of authentic, which Possathorn is unintentional. Thus, “Real Rhythm of Rivulet” tends to invite people to find the cogitation together, which opens the authentic truth on its own through the photographs, videos, and Installation art.
“Real Rhythm of Rivulet” is both a contemplation and nudity of filmmaking for Possathorn, Showing the tools of filmmaking to trim the real world and the dreamy world in the film “มันดาลา Rivulet of Universe” by Possathorn. The film’s nudity represents the emptiness that has been added to the filmmaking, to push and pull emotions and influence people with narrative.
