Description
Art Focus Bangkok is proud to present “The Museum Visitor”, a solo exhibition by Mariko Toey, inspired by masterpieces from art history ranging from the Renaissance to modern times. Key works that influenced this collection include Girl with a Pearl Earring (1665) by Johannes Vermeer, The Birth of Venus (1486) by Sandro Botticelli, and The Swing (1767) by Jean-Honoré Fragonard.
Mariko Toey reinterprets these and other classic works by blending their original elements and shades with vibrant contemporary colors. This juxtaposition of past and present offers a fresh perspective on these timeless pieces, reimagined through her distinctive style called ‘Boxism.’
In this exhibition, visitors will experience both the original historical color schemes alongside Mariko Toey’s reinterpretations, creating a dialogue between traditional art and modern expression. The Museum Visitor offers a new outlook on the evolution of art, showcasing how timeless masterpieces can inspire new forms while remaining relevant across centuries.
Visit the museum from October 5th, from 2:00 PM onwards. The exhibition is free to the public at Art Focus Bangkok, located at River City Bangkok, 3rd floor.
