In any realm I may roamโฆ
There must be a time when we wish to retreat to a place crafted by imagination, escaping the threats of the contemporary world we share nowโa world fraught with the terrors of conflict and battles, as though a new world war were about to ignite. The dangers of natural disasters, climate change, crime, inequality, oppression, and injustice abound. The urban lifestyle is filled with competition, and the overwhelming stress pushes us to wish for stories that conjure up good feelings, even if just for a moment in our minds or thoughts. We create settings that respond to our emotions to relax or feel excitement, even if only for a brief moment. That realm may be another universe, a parallel world, a world of the past, a world of the future, or a reality embellished with the creator’s perspective on society.
What does the realm of your imagination look like?
In the exhibition WHEREVER I MAY REALM the artwork serves as a reflection of personal realms from the depths of feelings that the artists have created for the audience to explore together.
– BEYA explores a realm of human happiness inspired by the hierarchy of human needs, or Maslow’s pyramid.
– AITOY reflects a parallel world for those who have passed, recalling memories through familiar tunes and music.
– KNN.FIVE reveals settings from a future world, an era after the collapse of our current civilization or a dystopia, with characters from the NeoThaiCivilization, a saga of the future world.
– NYM TANIM creates a private world that captures spontaneous feelings about what touches the heart, expressed through the character of a young girl, lines, colors, and brushes.
– MAG JITTAKSA presents a unique perspective on the place that cannot be arranged perfectly.
– STUDIO GARAGE offers an ideal anime world, showcasing the contradictions of beauty, innocence, and sexual satisfaction.
– SAUCE HARRISON uses metaphorical images to express common beliefs and societal norms of goodness through characters in costumes that conceal sharp meanings.
– ODANG (Philippines) depicts a world free from war and conflict through various symbols, including a military tank in peaceful fields, a clear blue sky, a cute yellow duck head, green stoplight eyes, and ears symbolise quietnessโno more noises from guns and bombings.
– POON AMORNCHORN transmits a different dimension between the real world and the imaginary, connected by โdreamsโ as a guiding means.
– NATTAPONG PHOENIX draws cityscapes in a futuristic sci-fi world with advanced technology inspired by movies and video games. The three-dimensional drawing presents an isometric perspective.
– RED SALONGA (Philippines) portrays a human with a cloud for a head, suggesting the unknown may be daunting for we do not know what lies ahead. Fear of being lost is imminent. But what is unknown can be explored and discovered. It just takes a little curiosity a one foot in front of the other
– PAKJIRA PATTANAPAISARN illustrates a realm free from fear and anxiety, using the value of insects as a symbolic metaphor.
The various stories and feelings depicted in the realms conveyed by each artist, even if they only appear or touch us briefly, serve to sow the seeds of thought and emotion in the minds of viewers, allowing the stories from those realms to continue indefinitely.
